Stephen has more than 25 years’ experience in the telecoms and IT industry. He began his career with accountancy firm Lister and Co Plc, rising to head of the IT department, before founding his own business, Hoodpoint Communications, specialising in providing business phone systems. Following eight years' growth, he sold Hoodpoint to Chess in 2005, joining us as Head of Business Development. Stephen's passion for technology and unrivalled business acumen secured him Managing Director in 2012, he’s since steered the company to its best ever financial results.

James is the Divisional MD at Chess Cybersecurity (formerly Foursys) the award-winning Network Security Specialists. James has 20 years’ experience in providing cyber security to public sector, small and medium-sized businesses, corporate, and enterprise organisations. His role at Chess is to deliver complete cyber threat protection and outstanding customer support.
Cloud Telephony Specialist, Chess
Martin has 20 years’ experience in the IT and telecoms industry, having started his career as a junior engineer. His expertise is in Fully Managed IT Services, Cloud IT, Enhanced IT Solutions and Cloud Telephony. He employs a consultative approach to understanding a customer's business and ensures the solutions fit with the right budget and functions required. His aim is to enable businesses to maximise their potential and their return on investment.
Head of Knowledge, Culture and Office Experience, Chess
Kate is Chess’ Head of Knowledge, Culture and Office. Culture is at the heart of everything she does. She has launched several initiatives including our Leadership Academy, Customer Passion training and, most recently, the Empowering Women programme. Her strategic engagement plan has led to Chess securing a place in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For, and achieve 2nd place in 2017 after eight consecutive years in the top 100. She is also heavily involved in community and charity work. Last year she led the Chess Million Makers team, winning the North West Regional Finals by raising an amazing £43,000 for the Prince’s Trust.
Head of Quality and Compliance, Chess
Nick is the Head of Quality and Compliance for Chess – responsible for group compliance, audit, risk and security. Nick has over 10 years’ experience as a senior compliance manager working across IT, telecoms and financial sectors, both in the UK and overseas. His role at Chess is to deliver an audit and risk governance programme across the group to ensure that we meet all our legal and regulatory requirements and to head up the Group Risk committee.
